PMAR is a small foster-based rescue made up of fosters and volunteers located in Binghamton, NY. They are a no-kill all-breed rescue with a special place for the Pibbles & More.
PMAR’s mission is to reduce pet overpopulation, particularly pit bulls, through spay/neuter intervention and to educate the public about responsible pet ownership through adoption as opposed to purchase. They rescues dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, from high-kill shelters and dangerous situations and place them in loving homes.
PMAR was started with the belief that no animal should die unwanted. “After seeing the abundance of Pit bulls in shelters we decided to try to do something about it. We pull dogs from death row in the NY ACC shelters as well as from NC, SC, GA, St. Croix and Puerto Rico shelters partners. We all have the hope that one day we will be a no kill nation. Until then, we rescue as many dogs as we can, get them medical treatment and put them into foster homes until permanent homes can be found. We don’t just take in healthy dogs, we take dogs with mange, heartworm positive dogs and dogs who have been abused and have broken bones, open wounds and scars. When we are done, only the scars remain. Under those scars are beautiful animals with tremendous love to give. The potential is there, for dogs to get a second chance at life, to know what love feels like. This is what we strive for every day.”
Last month PMAR rescued a mama dog, Sunny, along with her TEN puppies! Several of these pups have already been adopted and are waiting to be old enough to leave mom to go to their new forever homes.
